A Busy Bee's Valentine's

As testament to how crazy busy it's been in the Bamboo Bear world recently, Valentine's Day was spent multi-tasking with a paint-brush in one hand and a glass of red in the other.

For three nights (and one very early morning) last week, I have been working on a piece of 'faux taxidermy' as a sample for a workshop I'm going to be teaching at the start of March. The armature was initially constructed with a combination of newspaper and masking tape before 2 layers of paper mache were applied and the piece was decoupaged with both fabric and paper.

Even though most of Valentine's evening was spent fastidiously applying small sqaures of fabric to an albino stag head, we did also manage to cook a lovely meal together and open a bottle of French wine we'd been saving since Christmas. Mr Bear also indulged my soppy side and hired a romantic movie for the occassion! Kudos ;-)

The main part of my day was spent at the Craft & Quilt Fair, demonstrating our products and chatting to some lovely fellow crafters.

I also had time to whip up this little cutie on our embroidery machine as a last-minute gift for Martin -

After a wonderful evening, it was an early start for me the next day to finish decoupaging my stag head in time for the last day at the show. I'm pretty pleased with the result for a first attempt. As soon as I finished, I wanted to start another though. They're always the most dangerous kinds of crafts....
