Current Craftings

I've finished a few more creations over the past week or so, just a quickie post to show a few of the things I've been working on.

My 'Truly Scrumpy' range consists largely of lots of knitted items. Headbands, brooches, hairclips etc. I love making lovely chunky rib headbands to keep your ears warm in winter. Here's a few I've completed, still in the progress of finishing a black version of the red one and one in a lovely grey Rowan combination yarn :)

I'm keeping the orange headbands for myself >.<

I've also been having a crack at some cushion covers. Since the boy and I are looking to invest in a little home for ourselves, I thought I'd teach myself some good old fashioned methods so I can make curtains, duvets, pillowcases, rugs etc. I'm wanting to have a go at making a huge rug entirely from pom-poms....watch this space.

This one I customized from a plain pink satin BHS cover that needed a bit of revamping. The chinese material panels came off an old denim skirt.

Made using old sofa upholstery fabric. Not quite finished, needs zip/velcro/poppers and tassels on the corners.

Vintage silk ties, opened out, ironed flat and sew together in even (ish) stripes. In need of one more tie before I can sew up sides.

I'm working on uploading some Scrumpy stuff on to my Etsy site, but I've just got a new job at a coffee shop (at last!) so my time's a bit more limited now.

Keep an eye out for products, they're coming soon!

A Virgin Blogger

Greetings all.

Well, this is new! But nice :) I thought it was about time to make myself a blog so I could keep people up to date with my current doings and beings! Especially what I'm up to in terms of inventing and manifesting creative goods and the progress of 'Truly Scrumpy', m
y infant brand!

As well as what's going on in the eve
r so slightly stagnating world of Holly the Actor! Great stuff!

Right, well, how to begin... I suppose I should mention I'm currently in rehearsal for a production, which is very exciting for me, not so sure for everyone else but it's something I've been waiting for for, well, shall we say a 'long time'. I was beginning to give up on my dreams of acting, after having a lot of agony and near heartbreak, it was starting to seem to me not the wisest of ideas to enter into a world that so far in my short life has caused me more pain than joy. The ecstasy I feel when doing what I love is undeniable but when you're never given a break and the disappointment never lets up, you start to think it might not be worth it after all. Plus, when everyone around you is succeeding without so much talent as a piece of lifeless driftwood, you eventually draw the conclusion you must be pretty shite as well.

On a more positive note, my audition with Threadneedle went more than well, to my utter disbelief, and I was gifted the part! The show is on the 26th March at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. So far, I'm having little luck with getting support from friends and family, but I suppose that's the way of the world.

I think that's all for now. I'll love ya and leave ya in peace x
